TEMPERATURE-DEPENDENCE OF MOLAR VOLUME AND ADIABATIC COMPRESSIBILITY OF AQUEOUS-SOLUTIONS OF AN AMPHIPHILIC PHENOTHIAZINE DRUG

摘要
The apparent molar volume and adiabatic compressibility of aqueous solutions of the amphiphilic phenothiazine drug chlorpromazine have been determined from measurements of density and ultrasound velocity over the temperature range 25 to 35°C. Discontinuities in the concentration dependence of ultrasound velocity at two critical concentrations indicated a complex association pattern at each temperature. Micelle formation at concentrations between the two critical concentrations was accompanied, at all temperatures, by increases of the apparent molar volume and the apparent molar compressibility. Temperature increase caused linear increases in both the apparent molar volume and compressibility of chlorpromazine in the micellar form. © 1991.
