The thermomagnetic behaviour of the hysteresis loops and the magnetic relaxation rate of polycrystalline Bi2-xTxSr2CaCu2O8+y (T=Pb, Nb) havebeen investigated. For substitution of Pb (x=0.3, 0.4) the flux line pinnIng has been improved over that of Bi2212. Our data show that the irreversibility temperature T(irr) correlates with the flux pinning strength and not with T(c). This suggests that the irreversibility line is a depinning line rather than a phase transition of the flux line lattice.
