STANDING STOCK OF MICROZOOPLANKTON ON CORAL REEFS - A PRELIMINARY-STUDY

The standing stock of microzooplankton on mid-shelf coral reefs in the central Great Barrier Reef was investigated based on samples collected with a Niskin bottle in February and October 1989. The observed net decrease in standing stock of microzooplankton across the reef flat suggests that a lack of information on their standing stock on coral reefs has led to an underestimate of the allochthonous energy input to coral reef systems.
