摘要
Polymers having trans, trans-distyrylbenzene units in the main chain were synthesizedby the Heck reaction of p-(or m-)divinylbenzene with bis(halobenzene) derivatives that have a flexible chain such as a longer alkyl or poly(oxyethylene) group. The product polymers exhibited thermotropic liquid crystallinity, which was characterized by using DSC and an optical microscope with cross-polarizers. Smectic textures were observed in the mesophases of polyesters and polyethers derived from m-divinylbenzene. © 1990, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
