摘要
Platinum-group metals (Ru, Rh, Pd, Ir, Pt) were compared as catalysts for the liquid-phase oxidative dehydrogenation of alcohols. Prior to catalytic oxidation, the metals were treated in situ with hydrogen or methanol to remove oxygen. As concluded from electrochemical measurements, the hydrogen treatment was more effective than the methanol treatment. The dehydrogenating properties of the metals were checked in the self-dehydrogenation of formaldehyde. Methanol and deuteromethanol were used as model substrates for the oxidative dehydrogenations. The order of stability towards poisoning by oxygen was Pt>Ir>Pd>Rh>Ru. Pd, however, may offer the highest cost effectiveness. © 1990.
