NONRADIATIVE PROCESS INDUCED BY EXTERNAL MAGNETIC-FIELDS IN THE C2H2 (A)OVER-TILDE (1)A(U) STATE NEAR PREDISSOCIATION LIMIT

摘要
Fluorescence excitation spectra of the V0nK01 (n = 1-4) vibronic bands of the C2H2 A state were measured under various magnetic fields up to 10 kG. It was found that external magnetic fields quench fluorescence remarkably from the levels near the predissociation threshold. From the observed vibrational-state, rotational-state, and field-strength dependences of the magnetic quenching, it could be interpreted in terms of the radiationless transition in magnetic fields. The vibrational-energy dependence of the quenching was found to be parallel to that of the Zeeman anticrossing density. The origin of the quenching was briefly discussed in connection with the predissociation.
