Methods in common use for the determination of metals in beer and wine are often time consuming and difficult to apply for routine quality control. Atomic absorption spectrophotometry provides a rapid and accurate means for examining a large number of samples. The application of the technique for estimating the trace metals Cu, Fe, Zn and Pb in beers and wines is described.
