摘要
Root apices of Cattleya form callus when cultured in vitro and this is followed by somatic embryogenesis. Of the auxins used, 2,4-D played a central role in callus formation. Lowering of ammonium ion content brought about increases in both calli size and chlorophyll levels, but, any protocorm-like body (PLB) was regenerated from callus. Glutamine and coconut water do not have also any favorable effect on PLB regeneration. These structures were formed after 6-9 months of culture in media containing the standard Vacin and Went ammonium concentration, 2,4-D and NAA. Rhyzogenesis was the most conspicuous morphogenetic process regardless of media used.
