POLYRIBOSOME CONCENTRATION OF MOUSE SKELETAL MUSCLE AS A FUNCTION OF AGE

摘要
Incorporation of phenylalanine into protein of mouse skeletal muscle decreases with age of mouse. This change in muscle is accompanied by a progressive decline in the concentration of polysemes and total RNA content in the pH-5-enzyme fraction. These conclusions are based on the results of two types of experiments: (a) by measuring the incorporation of phenylalanine by microsomes in the presence and in the absence of poly-U; (b) by comparing the sucrose density gradient distribution of ribosomal preparations which were separately treated with poly-U and ribonuclease. © 1969.
