A NEW HYDROGEN SENSOR WITH PELLICULAR ZR PHOSPHATE AS PROTON CONDUCTOR

摘要
A new type of miniaturized gas sensor for detecting very small amounts of H2 in air in the temperature range 0-200 °C is proposed. The sensor is a potentiometric electrochemical cell composed of a platinum or palladium thin film as sensing electrode, a thin film of pellicular zirconium phosphate (0.01-0.1 mm) as solid protonic conductor and a plate of titanium hydride (TiHx) as reference electrode. The device shows a sensitivity for H2 in air better than 1 ppm and exhibits a fast response of a few seconds if the concentration of H2 is more than 10 ppm. © 1990.
