MATHEMATICAL-MODELING OF SOIL BORON CONCENTRATION UNDER FIELD MOISTURE CONDITIONS USING THE LANGMUIR AND FREUNDLICH ADSORPTION-ISOTHERMS

Equations were developed that enabled the boron concentration at any soil moisture content to be calculated from measured boron concentrations and water contents of a saturated water extract, the bulk density and the measured coefficients defining the Langmuir and Freundlich boron adoption isotherms. The concentration-adsorption-moisture equations (CAM equations) have been tested against experiment data for three soils and two minespoils over a range of moisture oonditions. Also the CAM equations were used to predict potential boron phytotoxicity problems associated with the amelioration of acidic minespoils with pulverised fuel ash.
