摘要
The distribution of grain boundary faces and the area densities at the initial recovery stage has been measured in Cu 99.9999 and Cu 99.99 + 100 ppm Ag. From these measurements the nucleation rate and the effective growth rate of crystallites formed at different times could be simultaneously derived. The results exclude the diffusion of atoms along grain boundaries as rate controlling process of the grain boundary growth. The grain growth rate is primarily determined by the arrival of atoms from the deformed matrix in the grain boundary. This reaction is facilitated by vacancies which are present at the interface of the deformed structure. © 1969.
