FREQUENCY-RESPONSE ANALYSIS OF SORPTION IN ZEOLITE CRYSTALS WITH FINITE INTRACRYSTAL REVERSIBLE MASS EXCHANGE

In the theoretical analysis of this paper the zeolite crystal pore network is assumed to consist of transport pores, which offer the sorbate access to the crystal interior, and short pores intersecting the transport pores, which act as a capacity sink, with the sorbate in each of these pore types being regarded as distinct sorbed species or phases. A theoretical model of the batch frequency-response behaviour of a single zeolite crystal is developed, and we have allowed for intra-crystalline diffusion in the transport pores and reversible mass exchange between the transport pores and capacity pores. The degenerate models applicable when one of the mass-transfer resistances is negligible are identified. The utility of the batch frequency-response method for the determination of active dynamic processes has been illustrated.
