摘要
Sulforthomidine (WR 4873), sulfadimethoxine and sulfalenc (WR 4629) suppressed parasitemia and prolonged the survival of mice and rats infected with Plasmodium berghei. The antimalarial activity in rats was not antagonized by folic acid or para-aminobenzoic acid. In both species, the antimalarial activity of these three sulfonamides was not potentiated by trimethoprim (WR 5949). This pyrimidine compound alone does not possess any activity against rodent malaria. It is, therefore, not possible to use rodents for investigation of mechanism of antimalarial action of trimethoprim reported in man. © 1969 S. Karger AG, Basel.
