THE IMPORTANCE OF RESOLUTION LIMITS TO THE INTERPRETATION OF FRACTAL DESCRIPTIONS OF FINE PARTICLES

Fractals can be used to successfully quantify the ruggedness of a particle, but fractal information is highly sensitive to resolution limits, and fractal interpretations without consideration of resolution can be misleading. Awareness of scale can minimize confusion and avoid misinterpretation; better resolution can show new, potentially important textural elements.
