GLYCOSYL ESTERS OF AMINO ACIDS .I. SYNTHESIS OF 1-O-(2-ACETAMIDOACYL)-2,3,4,6-TETRA-O-ACETYL-BETA-D-GLUCOPYRANOSES

The synthesis of crystalline 1-O-(2-acetamidoacyl)-2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-β-d-glucopyranoses by the silver salt and dicyclohexylcarbodiimide method is described. The structure of the esters was assigned on the basis of elemental analyses, optical rotations, and i.r. and n.m.r. spectra. On alkaline hydrolysis, the C-1 ester bond of the glucosyl esters is cleaved before complete deacetylation of the molecule takes place. © 1969.
