SPATIOTEMPORAL CHAOS AND WAVE FIELD DISLOCATIONS ON A PARAMETRICALLY EXCITED FLUID SURFACE

摘要
Two-dimensional spatio-temporal chaos caused by the parametric excitation of a pair of counterpropagating capillary waves on the surface of a deep fluid layer vibrating in the vertical direction is studied theoretically. Defects of different types in a quasiperiodic lattice of intensity modulation of a wave field, which were earlier observed experimentally, are obtained using numerical solutions of equations for the wave field envelope. © 1990 Elsevier Science Publishers B.V.
