STRUCTURE OF THE COMPLEX CYTOSINIUM HEMITETRACHLOROZINCATE-CYTOSINE

摘要
The crystallographic stucture of [C4H6N3O]1/2[ZnCl4].cntdot.C4H5N3O is as follows: monoclinic, C2/c, a = 7.054, b = 15.182, c = 23.756 .ANG., .beta. = 94.67, Z = 8. The structure was refined to give R = 0.075 for 1893 independent reflections. No direct coordination between the Zn atom and Cyt [cytosinium] or CytH+ molecules was observed. Two kinds of base pairing are formed alternately between Cyt and CytH+. Infinite H-bonded pyrimidine-pyrimidinium elongated ribbon-like sheets stack along the b axis with a separation of 3.26 .ANG.. The distorted-tetrahedral [ZnCl4]2- ion is fixed between the parallel sheets by N.sbd.H.cntdot..cntdot..cntdot.Cl and C.sbd.H.cntdot..cntdot..cntdot.Cl H bonds.
