X-RAY SMALL-ANGLE SCATTERING FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS OF OXY- AND DEOXYHAEMOGLOBIN

摘要
The X-ray small-angle scattering of human oxy- and deoxyhaemoglobin was measured in aqueous solutions at various concentrations. Oxygenated and deoxygenated haemoglobin were found to differ in radius of gyration. No significant volume change was detected upon oxygenation of haemoglobin. The radius of gyration of deoxyhaemoglobin was found to exceed that of oxyhaemoglobin by 1·5 (± 0.·9) Å, compared to a difference of 0·35 Å which was calculated from the electron density distributions derived from single-crystal X-ray analysis. © 1969.
