摘要
The metastable fragmentation of the (C4H10)nC4H7+ cluster ions produced by the electron impact ionization of neutral n-butane clusters has been studied with a double-focussing sector field mass spectrometer. In addition to the usual statistical single-monomer evaporation, (C4H10)nC4H7+ cluster ions were found to exhibit a more complex metastable decay pattern, involving evaporation of 2-4 and 4-7 C4H10 monomers. A mechanism based on energy storage in metastable isomers of C4H7+ within the butane cluster ion is suggested to be responsible for the unusual metastable fragmentation pattern of (C4H10)nC4H7+ cluster ions.
