2H(D,GAMMA)4HE REACTION FROM 6 TO 19 MEV

摘要
The 2H(d, γ) cross section has been measured at 135° from 6 to 19 MeV deuteron energy. At 10 MeV, the c.m. gamma-ray angular distribution was shown to be consistent with sin2θ cos2θ as expected for E2 radiation. Assuming that this distribution obtains over the entire energy range investigated, the total cross section for the inverse reaction is computed for purposes of comparison with other results. This cross-section peaks near 31 MeV excitation energy in 4He with a magnitude of 3.0 ± 0.8 μb. The shape of the cross section is not consistent with a simple 2+ resonance in 4He but indicates a predominantly direct reaction mechanism. The cross-section moments ∫ σEγ -ndEγ are compared with quadropole sum rule estimates for n = +2 to -1. © 1969.
