摘要
This paper extends the theoretical discussion given in Part I for carbon formation from the pyrolytic decomposition of a gaseous carbon compound in an isothermal flow reactor of cylindrical shape and radius R0. In this treatment (Part II) pyrolysis of the gas is assumed to occur homogeneously with a specified rate constant. It is still assumed that pyrolysis gives an active species (designated C) that can add to carbon particles C + Cn → Cn+1 However in Part II all the particles, including C, can deposit on the wall or grow in the gas phase. The results can be expressed in terms of the particle size n and three parameters ξ, χ and θ defined by equations (8-10) of the text. The parameter χ does not influence the deposition rate parameter f{hook}max (defined in Table 1), but controls the particle size distribution in the deposit. For large χ, the average value of n is small, and the maximum deposition rate is achieved for small values of ξ (the time parameter). As χ decreases, both the average value of n and the value of ξ to reach maximum deposition increases. On the other hand the value of θ does not greatly influence the particle size distribution, but f{hook}max increases proportionately with θ. © 1969.
