ENHANCEMENT OF METHANOL-METHANOL ASSOCATION (A-) PARAMETER BY ADDITION OF STRONG ELECTROLYTES

摘要
Proton magnetic relaxation rates of the systems CD3OH/XY/CCl4 (XY = LiCl, HCl, N(CD3)4Cl) and the self diffudsion coefficient of MeOH as a function of the methanol/CCl4 composition have been measured. With decreasing amount of MeOH there is a strong increase of the A-parameter (association parameter) which is an indicator of CD3OH-HOCD3 association. The increase of A becomes stronger when LiCl or HCl is added to the mixture which shows that now H-bonding and ion-solvatation effect couple the OH groups together. The effect is absent when N(CD3)4Cl is added to the binary mixture.
