摘要
Routine preoperative assessment of hemostatic risk is recommended. From 1964 to 1969 approximately 1 per cent of the patients were found preoperatively to have abnormal bleeding problems which could have gone undetected if they had not been specifically looked for. The significance of the history, physical examination, complete blood count (including estimate of platelets), partial thromboplastin time test, prothrombin time test, and tourniquet test is discussed. Some illustrative cases are presented. © 1969.
