摘要
In suitable expts. on 7 dogs and 7 cats, stimulation of the central stump of the hypoglossal nerve produced an increase in arterial blood pressure; of the peripheral stump of the lingual nerve, fibrillary twitching of the tongue; of central stump, a reflex dropping of the jaw and movement of the tongue independent of the jaw; of the peripheral stump of the hypoglossus, contraction of the muscles served; and of the central stump, reflex contraction of the muscles of the tongue both by direct, homolateral and by crossed reflexes. Apparently the hypoglossus is a sensory-motor nerve; and the afferent fibers are proprioceptive and, contrary to the motor fibers, are crossed in the medulla; the central routes of the afferent fibers of the lingual are united with the nucleus of the hypoglossi. The presence of sensory fibers in the hypoglossus is shown by the increase in blood pressure and the reflex movements of the tongue on stimulation of the central stump of the divided nerve.
