摘要
A series of polyarene quinones, hydroquinones, and phenols (or their esters or methyl ethers) undergo reduction directly to the corresponding fully aromatic hydrocarbons in high yield on treatment with hydriodic acid alone or in refluxing acetic acid. Phosphorus is generally not required (except for 1-hydroxynaphthalene) and has a deleterious effect through promotion of undesired hydrogenation of the aromatic products. © 1979, American Chemical Society.
