DEVELOPMENT OF PC SOFTWARE TO SUPPORT SOIL, PLANT AND IRRIGATION WATER ANALYSIS

The present project describes the planning and development of PC software for soil, plant and irrigation water analysis. Our main target was to develop user-friendly software that is easy to handle and capable of covering all the laboratory needs. So we developed three programmes entitled ''soil,'' ''water,'' and ''plant'' to support soil, plant and irrigation water analysis, respectively. The programme's structure is menu driven, permitting the user to interact between the work to be done, data entry and file control. The user can move from screen to screen through the index screen in order to make corrections, add or delete data and files. Each programme has the ability to produce output sheets for the chosen sample and analysis in order to deal with laboratory measurements. Mathematical formulae, curves and diagrams are also included for printing purposes. The capability of storing the results in order to be processed by other statistical programmes also exists. Our laboratory experience and testing has shown that the software is both easy to use and reliable in organizing the analysis and producing permanent records for the soil research.
