DIRECT SAMPLING OF ION-EXCHANGER SUSPENSIONS FOR ATOMIC-ABSORPTION SPECTROMETRY WITH ELECTRO-THERMAL ATOMIZATION

Suspensions of chelating ion-exchange resins with sorbed elements can be injected directly into a Massmann furnace; the reproducibility is similar to that achieved in sampling of solutions. This procedure offers the possibility of preparing standards and samples in the same matrix and so avoiding the usual standardization problems. The technique is discussed in detail for the determination of 1-50 ng of mercury bound on a resin with thiol groups. Methods for the determination of cobalt, nickel and molybdenum (1-16 ng) after sorption on glycolmethacrylate gels with bound 8-hydroxyquinoline are also described. © 1979.
