摘要
Extracts from 87 species belonging to eight genera of the family Moraceae were screened for phototoxic constituents using the gram negative bacterium E. coli B/r. Only two of the 72 Ficus species tested were positive for phototoxic metabolites. In contrast, all species of Dorstenia (5 spp.) and Fatoua (1 sp.) gave varying degrees of light-activated antimicrobial activity. Root extracts contained more potent photosensitizers or higher concentrations of phototoxins than either leaf or flower extracts. Furanocoumarins were subsequently identified in the extracts of all phototoxin-containing species. © 1990.
