GAUSSIAN PULSE WINGS WITH PASSIVE MODELOCKING

摘要
Passive modelocking tends to produce secant hyperbolic pulses with exponential wings in the time domain. The recent observation of gaussian pulse wings could be explained if one postulates a saturable absorber mechanism that simulates a logarithmic dependence of absorption upon intensity. Two models are investigated: two conventional saturable absorbers and two KLM equivalent absorbers. The analysis shows ways for pulse-shaping of modelocked pulses away from the standard sech shape, not only in producing gaussians, but some other pulse-shapes.
