Magnetostrictive strains and Magnetic induction have been measured as a function of applied d.c. field and pressure on the giant magnetostrictive material TbxDyl-xFey(x = 0.3, 1.92 ≤ Y ≤ 1.95). Dynamic measurements of the magnetomechanical coupling k33 as a function of d.c. bias field and pressure using a novel pressure rig have also been determined. These results have provided data on how the properties of the materials required for optimal device operation change with operating conditions. © 1990 IEEE
