PROSTHODONTIC ASPECTS OF ENDODONTICS

The permanent restoration should be planned before or during the endodontic treatment. When a dowel is necessary, only the apical region of the root canal should be filled. The objectives are (1) to save time, (2) to prevent the need for retreatment of the root canal, and (3) to prevent failures. A disadvantage is the possible infection of the periodontium via accessory canals if the unfilled part of the root canal is left empty for a long period of time. © 1969 The C. V. Mosby Company.
