摘要
The results of an experimental and theoretical investigation of the heat loss from cylinders at low Reynolds numbers in binary mixtures of nitrogen-helium and nitrogen-neon are presented. The experimental data confirm the previous results for nitrogen-helium mixtures. Because neon exhibits poor thermal accommodation on tungsten, the heat loss in nitrogen-neon mixtures qualitatively involves the same slip effects as does helium. It is shown that an extension to binary gases of the calculation of Clarke and McChesney for the slip condition in pure gases properly accounts for the nitrogen-neon results, but does not do so for the nitrogen-helium results. An explanation is suggested.
