A NEW BAND SPECTRUM OF BIO IN THE NEAR-INFRARED REGION

摘要
The emission spectrum of the X2 2-PI-3/2-->X1 2-PI-1/2 transition between the fine-structure components of the X 2-PI-r ground state of BiO has been observed in the near-infrared spectral region between 1.3 and 1.6-mu-m. The X2 2-PI-3/2 state of the radical was excited by near-resonant electronic-to-electronic (E-E) energy exchange from metastable O2(a 1-DELTA-g) molecules in a fast-flow system by mixing a flow of bismuth vapour in Ar carrier gas with microwave-discharged oxygen. The DELTA-upsilon = 0 band sequence of the BiO system near 7085 cm-1 was found to be the most intens molecular emission excited by energy transfer from metastable oxygen which hitherto has been observed. The electronic energy and the vibrational constants of the X2 2-PI-3/2 state were deduced to be (in cm-1) T(e) = 7086.5 +/- 1, omega-e = 688.4 +/- 1, omega-e-chi-e = 4.8 +/- 0.1 cm-1.
