摘要
The reaction of HCl gas with fully calcined commercial limestone particles was carried out experimentally using a thermorecording balance. The HCl gas concentration was 2.1 mol.% and temperatures in the range 310-600-degrees-C were investigated. Fundamental aspects of the reaction have been presented elsewhere. The significance of this study lies in the use of commercial limestone with the possibility of industrial applications. Initial reaction rates based on the unit surface area of solid were determined. In the absence of both gas phase mass transfer and diffusion, the activation energy for the system was found to be 22 800 J mol-1. The reaction rates were found to be dependent on particle size with diffusional resistance increasing with particle size.
