摘要
Isolates of Chondrostereum purpureum from New Brunswick, Vancouver Island, and southeastern British Columbia, Canada, were compared with respect to their protein profiles, growth in culture at different temperatures, and virulence on poplar cuttings. Most isolates grew most rapidly at 24-degrees-C and were severely inhibited, but not killed, at 35-degrees-C. All isolates were virulent to cuttings of Populus balsamifera ssp. trichocarpa and P. balsamifera x deltoides but few significant differences in virulence were noted among isolates. Virulence of isolates varied as much within as among localities of origin. Groups of isolates identified by cluster analysis of protein patterns did not match groups based on host or geographic location of origin. There was no evidence of host or geographic specialization in the fungus.
