SIGN-ALTERNATING KINETICS OF RADIATION-INDUCED CURRENT IN DISORDERED DIELECTRICS

Time dependence of transient radiation-induced current is studied in disordered dielectrics. continuously subjected to a flow of fast charged particles. Conditions of prolonged irradiation of the sample with two grounded surfaces are considered. It is shown that under these conditions the kinetics of transient current reflect the dynamics of space charge formation. The results obtained demonstrate that under certain conditions the time dependence of injected-charge density is non-monotonic and the corresponding kinetics of radiation-induced current appear to be sign-alternating. The correlation between the time dependence of radiation-induced current and the kinetics of charge storage in the dielectric is found. These results enable us to determine the space charge density, using comparatively easily measurable characteristics of transient current.
