摘要：

The increase in oviducal weights caused by injections of follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone was completely blocked in photorefractory birds by simultaneous injections of prolactin. The ovarian response to the gonadotropins was partially inhibited by prolactin. The antigonadal effects of prolactin probably involve an inhibition of the secretion or action of the gonadal hormones. Inasmuch as prolactin has an important role in regulating vernal migration, it may be hypothesized that endogenous prolactin exerts an antigonadal effect in the migratory white-throated sparrow that delays reproductive maturation until the birds reach their breeding grounds. © 1969.
