摘要
The process of evaporation and combustion of a liquid droplet in a still air is calculated numerically, treated as an unsteady diffusion-controlling phenomenon with the flame front model. Single droplets of liquid fuel-benzene, methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, n-octane-are evaporated and burned in air under various ambient temperatures, pressures and oxygen-concentrations. The process of evaporation can not attain to a quasi-steady state of mass and heat transfer at the droplet surface. Concerning combustion, the process approaches at its end to a quasi-steady state, though the values of the flame temperature and the ratio of the flame radius to the drop radius are much smaller than those of the quasisteady theory. The initial condition of the surrounding air has a great influence on the process of evaporation and combustion. © 1969.
