1. 1. A solid-phase antibody system has been investigated for the radioimmunoassay of human pituitary follicle-stimulating hormone. 2. 2. Antisera produced to crude and highly purified hormone uniformly showed cross reactivity to luteinizing hormone and chorionic gonadotrophin. 3. 3. The sensitivity to follicle-stimulating hormone was 0.5 mμg (approximately 0.25 m i.u.) and to chorionic gonadotrophin was 15 m i.u. 4. 4. Immunological activity was not altered by treatment with acid although biological activity is destroyed. 5. 5. Recovery of injected follicle-stimulating hormone in urine was higher as estimated by immunoassay than by bioassay although the pattern of excretion was similar. This suggests that immunological and biological sites in the molecule are not identical. © 1968.
