摘要
Drosophila melanogaster females from a multifemale stock (SC-1) showed strong oviposition site preference (OSP) in a continuous gradient of substrate temperatures (18-31°C). Flies reared at 25°C had an OSP ( {Mathematical expression} ±SE) of 25.2±0.2°C, whereas flies reared at 18°C had an OSP of 23.5±.2°C. Flies reared from egg to adult at one temperature and exposed as adults for 4 days to another temperature had OSPs intermediate between these extremes. This second 4-day exposure seemed to have a greater effect on OSP than the first rearing temperature. Selection experiments failed to produce significant change in mean OSP in eight generations, indicating a low heritability of temperature OSP in this stock. © 1979 Plenum Publishing Corporation.
