PHOTOCATALYTIC PRODUCTION OF HYDROGEN FROM HYDROGEN-SULFIDE IN ETHANOLAMINE AQUEOUS-SOLUTION CONTAINING SEMICONDUCTORS DISPERSION

摘要
Photo-splitting of hydrogen sulfide to hydrogen has been done in different aqueous solutions of 20% ethanolamines (methanolamine, diethanolamine and triethanolamine) containing suspensions of TiO2. CdSe and CdS semiconductors. The rates of photocatalytic production of hydrogen have been measured for the temperature range 30-80-degrees-C, on attempts to improve the efficiency of photo-splitting H2S in this system. The TiO2 methanolamine system gave a higher efficiency than the others. Arrhenius activation energies have been calculated and a suitable mechanism has been suggested for this system.
