摘要
Ultraviolet irradiation of friedelin (1) in ether solution yields a complex mixture of products from which 5-ethyl-100-vinyldes-A-friedelane (2) and norfriedelane (4) have been separated and identified. In contrast, irradiation of 1 in reagent grade chloroform solution gives, in high yield, ethyl 3,4-secofriedelan-3-oate (7, R = C2H5), characterized by hydrolysis to the corresponding acid (7, R = H) and reduction to the corresponding alcohol (8, R = H). © 1969, American Chemical Society.
