摘要
We observed a weak luminescence (the intensity of which is about 30-40 times that of the control level) emanating from the root tips of Cicer arietinum. L when subjected to sudden freezing followed by fast thawing. The pattern of the variation of the intensity of photon emission with time after the treatment shows a shoulder and then a peak after which the intensity gradually reduces to background level. The intensity of light emission was found to be oxygen-dependent and could be suppressed by the addition of a radical chain terminator (phenol). The spectral distribution of the emitted photons could also be determined.
