APPLICATIONS OF A GENERALIZED GALERKIN METHOD TO NON-LINEAR OSCILLATIONS OF 2-DEGREE-OF-FREEDOM SYSTEMS

摘要
A generalized Galerkin's method is formulated for multi-degree-of-freedom holonomic systems. Two autonomous non-linear two-d. o. f. oscillators are used as the examples for the applications of the method: (i) free oscillations of a non-linear mass-spring system with two d. o. f. , (ii) two weakly non-linearly coupled identical van der Pol oscillators. The accuracy of the approximate solutions is discussed. The effect of different time intervals of integration on the results is also investigated.
