摘要
An initial study was carried out to investigate variations in lung cancer incidence within the City of Liverpool. By utilizing mortality data, statistically significant differences appeared between two contiguous areas within the City of similar environment and social class. On further analysis of data relating to cancer registrations held by the Mersey Regional Cancer Registry no such significant difference was found. Mortality data can be misleading especially when relating to small areas and reliable morbidity data should be used in conjunction with it whenever possible. © 1979 The Society of Community Medicine.
