MEASUREMENT OF THE VIBRATIONAL POPULATIONS OF MOLECULAR-IONS AND ITS APPLICATION TO DISSOCIATIVE RECOMBINATION IN STORAGE-RINGS

摘要
The Coulomb explosion imaging method is used for the measurement of the vibrational state distribution of He2+, under various conditions of excitation. Application of this method to the measurement of vibrational excitation of molecular ions stored in heavy-ion storage rings is discussed, especially in view of the recent results obtained for the dissociative recombination of molecular ions with electrons using a merged-beam technique in a storage ring. © 1995 The American Physical Society.
