GRAIN-ORIENTATION OF THE BI-SR-CA-CU-O SYSTEM CERAMICS BY HOT-FORGING AND THEIR SUPERCONDUCTING PROPERTIES

Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O oxide superconductors with high density and oriented structure were prepared by hot-forging at a temperature of 770-degrees-C, The value of J(c) at 77 K of Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3Oy increased with the increase of the rate of grain orientation change at this temperature of 770-degrees-C as the forging pressure increased, and reached a maximum value of 320 A/cm2 under a pressure of 300 kg/cm2. The density of this specimen was 5.98 g/cm3, though the J(c) value of the sample sintered in a conventional way was 54 A/cm2 and its density was 5.24 g/cm3.
