COMPARISON OF EFFECTS OF ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT AND ETHYLMETHANESULPHONATE UPON FREQUENCY OF MITOTIC RECOMBINATION IN YEAST

摘要
Diploid cultures of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae were treated with UV light and ethylmethanesulphonate and scored for mitotic recombination and cell survival. Intergenic recombination was induced to the same frequency by both treatments at the same survival level whereas EMS induced more intragenic recombinants than UV treatment at the same survival. The mechanisms of induction of both recombinational events are discussed. © 1969 Springer-Verlag.
