The IAEA Technical Committee Meeting discussed the status and plans of the large tokamak experiments now being constructed. Engineering features of the different designs were detailed and compared in technical sessions. The latest results of tokamak research reported at the 7th International Conference on Plasma Physics and Controlled Nuclear Fusion Research (Innsbruck) were discussed and, in addition, proposals for the future tokamak research programme were presented. A final summary reviewed the problem areas requiring further attention. © 1979 IOP Publishing Ltd.
